LCD happenings in May and June 2016!

What’s been happening at LCD? Well, it's been another busy and exciting few weeks with so much going on.  Here's some of our news:

In the Show Rings:

El Sueno (May 14th):

Upon arriving for the show at El Sueno, we were greeted with a great surprise: I was handed a High Point ribbon. Apparently FJ Ramzes and I won high point at the previous El Sueno Equestrian Center show!!!

Winter’s Star and I won a Blue ribbon, scoring a solid 67.5% at Intermediare II.

Nadja and Mickey won a Blue ribbon doing their all time best with an impressive ride and 60% at Second Level-Test 3, followed by a fabulous 64% at Second Level-Test 2!! Very well deserved: Congratulations!!

As always, my fabulous assistant trainer Bryce was by our side helping everything run smoothly.

We had a blast together and I can't wait for the next one!!!

Flintridge Riding Club (May 27-29):

There is something very special about the Flintridge horse show. The camaraderie is amazing!

I was so proud of the boys. Winter’s Star is truly becoming an Intermediare – 2 horse. We had a few bobbles but he is really getting the concept of Piaffe and Passage.

C-Max (Owner: Romana Hartke) and I had a great day on Friday! We rode First Level- Test 2, earning a 66.25%.

My lovely clients rode their hearts out for tons of great scores and blues.

Bryce and Djedefre scored 67% on both days in Second Level, grasping the coveted High Point Reserve Champion Lower Level Jr. Bryce also showed Been Verified (Benny) for the first time this season and put in a solid performance at Second Level.

Bettina and Moonlight Sonata gave a solid performance scoring 64% and a blue ribbon for First Level-Test 1.

We had a wonderful group of the LCD ladies get together for a VIP dinner on Saturday night to watch the Freestyles.  So much fun! Thank you all for making this weekend extra special with everyone going above and beyond to help and support one another.

Paddock Riding Club (June 11-12):

Milleria ARM (Mia) had a wonderful debut at a registered show. We rode First Level -Test 2 scoring a very respectable 70%!

I’m so proud of all our wonderful horses and riders at LCD!

Other Events:

Clinic: Cavaletti Clinic / Adult Clinic on biomechanics

  • We had an “adult camp” for our LCD clients. A weekend of fun and information! We learned all about biomechanics, had workshops on tack and horse parts identification etc.

  • Emilie was back by popular demand for her second cavaletti clinic. It was a sold out clinic and all my clients enjoyed working their horses: basically doing dressage with poles in between. This is an excellent way to put what you learn with dressage while focusing on precision and timing, thus connecting with your horse on a whole new level. Thank you Emilie!  Hope to see you again soon.

  • Summer Intern: I’m having a blast with LCD’s Summer Intern Gillian Sieker. She has been riding, grooming, lunging and volunteering at camp! We will really miss her when the Summer comes to an end.

  • I was thrilled to be asked to judge several shows over the past few weeks. CalNet takes place here at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, and it’s always wonderful to see a great turn out. I also had the pleasure of Judging at Sweetwater Ranch. Many thanks to Cathy Trope for inviting me to participate.

It was so lovely having my amazing Mum  visit me! It was extra amazing to have her help decorate and organize my office!  It looks awesome and I couldn’t be more grateful!  Thanks Mum!! To add to the excitement, imagine my surprisewhen walking in to my office I saw the most gorgeous and creative wrought iron gate designed and installed by Romana Hartke!! Wow … my clients are the BEST!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart Romana! Gali and Brutus thank you too!!

It’s a pleasure to welcome four new horses and clients to LCD!

  • Vinterpol (KWPN Gelding) and his owner Pam
  • Piaffe and his owner Jenny
  • Korben Dallas and Larra: After an exhausting years long search, Larra Paolli finally found her dream horse! We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome the very handsome ¾ Arabian ¼ Saddlebred gelding Korben Dallas to our barn! Heartfelt congratulations to Larra!

Welcome Korben

Korben finally arrives!

  • My assistant trainer Bryce has brought her darling pony Jack to our barn! He is such a fabulous addition and we are all so happy to have him here.

Featured Horse and Rider:

  • Quill and Kristen continue to take leaps and bounds under saddle!  Quill has gone for rides (under saddle) throughout the center, as well as on the perimeter!  They have also trotted and cantered! What a gorgeous pair!
  • Nadja Brandt: Nadja has trained with me for over 3 years. She and Mythago (a.k.a Mickey a.k.a Doodlebug) have become quite the solid pair. I have been thrilled to watch them really succeed at Second Level.  I am always in awe Nadja's determination and perseverance.
